We are always looking for good experienced legal secretaries
June, 2024 update – we are currently looking for an experienced legal secretary for our conveyancing team. Visit our legal jobs page (see below) for details
Here at Wiltshire and Hampshire solicitors, Bonallack & Bishop, we are always really keen to hear from any experienced legal secretary who is looking for a new local local job – whether it’s part time or full time.
We are a growing local firm, with both a national reputation and clients nationwide for some of our niche services. And our legal secretaries, paralegals and team administrators play an absolutely key role in delivering our high levels of client care in a very busy office environment. And we are always very interested to talk to any experienced legal secretaries who wants to work in 1 of our 4 offices in Salisbury, Fordingbridge, Andover or Amesbury.
Our current vacancies
All of our current vacancies are listed on the jobs page of our website.
Click here to read more about our current legal jobs.
However, even if there isn’t a suitable vacancy listed on the website, we would still like to hear from you, if you’re experienced legal secretary.
Good secretaries are increasingly rare, so don’t worry if there is not an obvious opening. We would still love to hear from you. And with so few good legal secretaries available, most of our vacancies are now for paralegals or team administrators – but that doesn’t mean we can’t look at adapting any existing role to suit the skills and talents of a good experienced legal secretary.
Full-time, part-time and flexible working available.
Flexible working is nothing new to us. We have been pioneering flexible working arrangements for well over 10 years now. So if you’re an experienced legal secretary looking for full-time work, part-time or a more flexible arrangement, make sure you talk to us first.
Looking for occasional work as a legal secretary?
In addition to permanent jobs, we are always keen to add good legal secretaries to our temp bank of Reception and Secretarial casual workers. Over the years this has worked out really well for both us and our casual temporary workers. We have backup whenever we need urgent help – to cover sickness, holidays or a big increase in work. And our casual workers are able to work only when if and they choose to.
If you’re interested in joining our bank of casual workers as a legal secretary, drop us an email with your CV and an explanation of what you’re looking for to alana.bury@bishopslaw.com
Your experience
Your role as a legal secretary will vary according to your skill set, experience and the team you’re working with. But we are looking for secretaries who are flexible and adaptable in providing support for their team.
And although experience of the relevant area of law, and indeed of working for a law firm in general, is always helpful, it’s not essential. We firmly believe that specific knowledge and skills, while very useful, are not absolutely essential. It’s getting the right people with the right values determination and ability to work as a team that’s crucial.
But you will need to have good office admin experience and be:
· good with IT with a willingness to learn new systems
· calm and efficient
· a good team player
· accurate with good attention to detail
· good on the phone with clients and 3rd parties
Your responsibilities
Each of our team works a little differently, and there is far, far less copy typing involved – in fact there is no requirement for copy typing in some of the teams whatsoever.
But your responsibilities are likely to include some of the following:
· document processing, including using Proclaim, our case management system
· diary management
· preparing court bundles where appropriate
· key administrative duties
Future training and development?
We take training and developing our staff extremely seriously. So while there’s absolutely no need for you to express a wish to change and develop your role, if you’re interested in your personal career development, you will find us extremely open and supportive.
And as a good example of that, click here to read more about our in-house Accelerated Development Programme for paralegals
No recruitment agencies please
Please note we do not accept job applications for legal secretaries, inexperienced paralegals and other support staff through agencies.
